UConn Cruises Past New Hampshire 13-7 Saturday

DURHAM, N.H. - Four goals each from seniors Alyson Fazio (Methuen, Mass.) and Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) helped the UConn women's lacrosse team past UNH 13-7 to extend the Huskies' winning streak to three games.
Senior Alexandra Crofts (Westport, Conn.) scored 19 seconds into the game to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead. Sophomore Kelsey Catalano (Stony Brook, N.Y.) added another to the board for UConn just over a minute in to put the Huskies up 2-0.
After UNH cut UConn's lead to 2-1, senior Alyson Fazio (Methuen, Mass.) went on a tear and scored three unanswered goals, two off free position shots, to make it 5-1 halfway through the first half.
Finkelston scored UConn's next four goals to put the Huskies up 9-3 with six minutes to go in the first half. Crofts got her second of the game to close out the first half and the Huskies took a 10-4 lead going into the break.
The first nine minutes of the second half remained scoreless. Senior Carly Palmucci (Herndon, Va.) opened the scoring with 21:10 on the clock. Sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) tacked on another for the Huskies less than 30 seconds later to make it 12-4.
Fazio notched her fourth and final goal of the game halfway through the second half to give UConn a solid 13-4 lead. UNH scored three unanswered goals at the end to make the final score 13-7.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with 14 saves in 60 minutes of play, allowing only seven goals on 21 shots for her third win of the season.
