No. 5 UConn to Face Villanova, No. 1 UNC

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5 UConn field hockey team (11-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) faces another tough weekend as the Huskies host conference foe Villanova (5-7, 2-2) Friday at 3 p.m. before facing No. 1 North Carolina (13-0) in Newton, Mass., Sunday at 11 a.m.
Last Time Out
The Huskies fell to then-No. 5 Princeton, 5-2, last Sunday. Svea Boker and Antonia Tiedtke scored for UConn in the game.
Scouting the Wildcats
Villanova is coming off a 2-1 win over Quinnipiac. Megan Vermeil and Lydia each have six goals and 14 points to pace the Wildcats. Erika Miller has started 14 games in goal and holds a 2.58 goals-against average and .656 save percentage.
Last season, UConn routed Villanova, 12-0.
Scouting the Tar Heels
Top-ranked North Carolina is coming off a 7-1 win over Liberty. The Tar Heels are the only undefeated team left in Division I. Erin Matson leads UNC with nine assists and 31 points while Catherine Hayden leads the team with 12 goals. Amanda Hendry has started every game in goal and holds an 0.41 goals-against average and .852 save percentage.
The Huskies beat the Tar Heels, 3-2, in a shootout in the NCAA semifinals last season.
