No. 20 Huskies Snag Series Win vs. Tulane, 9-2

Storrs, Conn. - The No. 20 UConn baseball team received a stellar outing from Jeff Kersten to earn its fourth-straight American Conference series win against Tulane, 9-2.
Kersten logged 6.2 innings, allowing just six hits, a pair of runs and struck out three en route to his second win of the year. Kersten has filled in nicely as a weekend starter and utilized his defense on Sunday. The Pinole, Calif. native got 12 ground ball outs, including a pair of double plays. Conor Moriarty aided Kersten with a diving stop in the fourth that started a 5-4-3 double play.

The UConn offense gave Kersten plenty of support with nine runs on 14 hits. The Huskies went down early 1-0 in the first but immediately responded with a run in the opening frame and scored three in the second. Chris Winkel drilled his fourth home run of the year to lead off the second and give the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
Anthony Prato and Mike Woodworth both collected three-hit days and each had an RBI single in the victory. Prato recorded his team-leading 17th multi-hit effort.
Isaac Feldstein drove in a pair of runs in the rubber game which featured his conference-leading 12th home run of the season.

P.J. Poulin locked down the win by tossing 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.
The Huskies have the week off for finals before traveling to Memphis to begin a three-game series on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET

Troy Stefanski extended his hit streak to 13 games with a base hit in the eighth.
The Huskies have won five consecutive weekends for the first time since the 2015 season.
Anthony Prato has recorded 10 multi-hit games in the Huskies last 15 contests.
