Women’s Hockey Set for Weekend Series at Merrimack

STORRS, Conn. – After splitting last weekend's series against Vermont, the UConn women's hockey team returns to the ice as it prepares for another weekend of Hockey East competition, this time on the road. The Huskies travel to North Andover, Mass for a weekend series against the Merrimack Warriors on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16. Both matches are scheduled for a 2 p.m. puck drop.

Opponent and Series History (Northeastern)…
- UConn leads the series with Merrimack, 6-3-1. The Warriors took the first meeting of the season, 3-1, back on Oct. 26.
- Merrimack enters the weekend after going 1-1-0 in two Hockey East match ups last weekend. Merrimack kicked off its three-game series with #3 Northeastern with a 6-3 loss, before bouncing back to close out the season series with New Hampshire with a 2-1 win on the road and securing a spot in the
- WHEA Tournament in the process.
- Katelyn Rae leads the Warriors with 31 points (20g, 11a) while Mikyla Grant-Mentis has dished out a team-leading 19 assists. Goaltender Samantha Ridgewell has recorded a 1.88 GAA and a .935 save percentage in 28 games.
Last Time Out…
UConn collected three points last weekend in a home series against Vermont, locking up a playoff spot in the process. The Huskies came from behind twice on Friday to take two points in Hockey East action with a 3-2 victory, before playing the Catamounts to a 1-1 overtime draw on Saturday.
Leading the Pack…
Chris Mackenzie enters his sixth season as the coach of the Huskies. Mackenzie has been an instrumental part in turning the program around and in 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
