HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The UConn baseball team lost a heartbreaker on a two-run walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth against Sam Houston State on Sunday afternoon, 6-5.

Hunter Hearn hit the game-winning two-run home run off UConn closer Jake Wallace with no outs and a runner on first in the ninth. Wallace had thrown two innings to that point but wasn't able to close it out against the middle of the Bearkats order. It is the first time this season Wallace has allowed multiple runs in a game.

UConn played a pretty solid game up until that point, responding every time the Bearkats tied the game. In a 2-2 game in the fifth inning, Mike Woodworth lined an RBI single into center to give UConn the lead back.

Colby Dunlop pitched well out of the bullpen, logging three innings of work and allowed just two hits. The right-hander gave up two runs but was able to get the ball to Jake Wallace with a one-run advantage.

In a 3-3 game in the seventh, Mike Woodworth drew a two-out walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch in the turf and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher. A couple pitches later, Woodworth scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-3 Huskies.

The Bearkats responded with a run in the bottom of the seventh but UConn immediately punched back. The Huskies got an RBI single from David Langer to reclaim the lead at 5-4. Unfortunately the Huskies were unable to tack on with the bases loaded and one out against the Bearkats electric closer, Nick Mikolajchak.

UConn drops its second-straight series and will look to bounce back on Tuesday, April 30 vs. Central Connecticut State at 3 p.m. at J.O. Christian Field.
