UConn Grabs First Conference Win

TAMPA, Fla. – The UConn volleyball team picked up its first conference win of the season after sweeping USF 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies improve to 7-7 (1-1) on the season, while the Bulls fall to 7-9 (1-1).
How it Happened
The first set began with back and forth action as the teams exchanged the first 14 points. The Huskies offense found a rhythm and took the first set by a score of 25-17. UConn carried the momentum from the first set into the second. Tied 9-9, the Huskies took 13 of the next 15 points to go ahead 22-11, before taking the set 25-14. The final set began as another tight contest, but the Husky offense was relentless. UConn won the third and final set 25-16.
High Powered Offense
The Huskies offense was dominant all afternoon with five Huskies recording five or more kills. Sophomore Anna Petrova paced the offense, posting 11 digs, eight kills, and hitting .333. R-Junior Genna Florig tallied nine kills and led the team hitting .562 on the afternoon. Sophomore Caylee Parker added 10 kills and eight digs. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris had a team-high 34 assists and added 13 digs and four kills. Junior Isabelle Peterson logged seven kills and Freshman Allie Garland tallied five kills.

The Huskies travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple (9-4, 0-2) in another AAC matchup. The game is scheduled for Friday, October 4th at 12:00pm.
