Huskies Rout Crusaders, Sweep Season Series

WORCESTER, Mass. – An offensive explosion led the UConn women's hockey team to a lopsided, 6-0 shutout victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center. The Huskies (11-8-1, 8-4-1 WHEA) sweep the season series an remain undefeated on the road.
Six different skaters found the back of the net for the Huskies while sophomore netminder Samantha Carpentier-Yelle collected 18 saves en route to her fifth win and third shutout of the season.
Taylor Wabick got the scoring started for the Huskies, lighting the lamp in the seventh minute to put the road team up 1-0. Savannah Bouzide dished the puck off to Wabick and the sophomore's wrist shot from the right side deflected off a Crusader skater and into the back of the net.
Catherine Crawley doubled the UConn lead at the 15:25 mark. The senior captain fired a wrist shot from the point that went through the five hole, giving the Huskies a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.
Coryn Tormala notched her second goal in as many days, tapping in a rebound on the right side after Kate Thurman's initial attempt was deflected. Camryn Wong joined the scoring party in the 17' after cleaning up the rebound. The sophomore notched her first goal of the year off assists from Crawley and Briana Colangelo, pushing the Huskies' lead to four goals.
UConn dumped the biscuit in the basket for the fifth time off the stick of Danielle Fox. A Holy Cross turnover during their power play chance led to a short-handed goal from the sophomore, who recorded her second goal this season. Morgan Wabick put the finishing touches on the win after slotting home a one-timer in the 18th minute.
