WHOC Returns to Ice vs. Boston College

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team returns to the ice this weekend for a home-and-home series against No. 10 Boston College, beginning on Friday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Mark Freitas Ice Forum. The series wraps up in Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. on NESN+.
The Huskies (0-1-1) had last weekend off after Maine suspended winter sports until December 8. UConn opened up the 2020-21 campaign against Providence and went 0-1-1 in the series that included a shootout win for the Huskies in the final game of the series. Both games are currently "flex" games and currently do not count towards Hockey East standings.
This weekend the Huskies play their first conference games of the season and face a Boston College (2-2) team that are coming off being swept by Providence last weekend in a home-and-home series. The Eagles opened up the season with a series sweep against New Hampshire.
RECENT SERIES SUCCESS VS. EAGLES
UConn won the regular season series against Boston College last year for the first time since 2006-07 season. The Huskies followed it up by going to Boston College and winning the Hockey East Quarterfinals series in three games. Viki Harkness and Natalie Snodgrass scored third period goals to erase a 1-0 deficit in game three and lift the Huskies to the Hockey East Semifinals.
Boston College leads the all-time series 39-18-10.
DIALED IN AGAINST BOSTON COLLEGE
Senior captain Natalie Snodgrass has produced when playing against Boston College, scoring eight goals and adding four assists in her career vs. the Eagles. Junior Viki Harkness has also played well against Boston College with four career goals against the Hockey East rival.
SCOUTING HUSKIES
Senior Savannah Bouzide leads the Huskies with two goals this season and also scored in the shootout win against Providence (Nov. 29). Sophomore defenseman Claire Peterson has registered an assist in each of the first two games for UConn. Samantha Carpentier-Yelle and Tia Chan have both made starts in net for the Huskies. Chan recorded 33 saves in her collegiate debut against the Friars on November 29.
SCOUTING EAGLES
Freshman Gaby Roy had quite the start to her Boston College career, scoring four goals against New Hampshire in the season opener. Roy leads the Eagles with four goals and six points. Tri-captain Kelly Browne ranks first on the team with four assists.
Boston College return Hockey East Second Team All-Star Cayla Barnes (6-17-23) and 2019-20 National Rookie of the Year Hannah Bilka (14-23-37).
HUSKIES IN HOCKEY EAST
UConn was picked to finish fourth in the conference in this year's preseason poll. The Huskies are coming off a 13-win season in league play, tying for the most in program history (2007-08).
