WHOC Drops Close Contest to Merrimack

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team dropped a close contest to Merrimack Saturday afternoon, falling to the Warriors, 2-1, at in the regular season series finale.
Natalie Snodgrass notched her 14th goal of the season and Taylor Wabick tallied her 13th assist to lead the UConn offense. Senior Morgan Fisher racked up 14 saves in net.
Neither team scored through the opening 20 minutes, but UConn came out firing early and often. The Huskies peppered the Warriors with 15 shots through the period while limiting them to just six.
Merrimack broke through with the games first goal just past the midway point of the second. Chloe Cook scored at 11:18 to give the Warriors lead. The visitors doubled their lead with another tally at the 9:16 mark.
The Huskies finally broke the seal with a score in the 14th minute. Taylor Wabick glided into the crease and fired a shot on net. The shot was blocked, but Natalie Snodgrass crashed the boards and slipped home the rebound to pull the Huskies within 2-1 at 13:07
UConn was unable to find an equalizer, and Merrimack held on for the win.
