CHICAGO – The UConn men's basketball team concludes its three-game BIG EAST Conference road swing in Chicago, taking on DePaul at Wintrust Arena on Monday night at 6 p.m. (FS1).
The Huskies (6-1 overall, 3-1 BIG EAST), playing their third game in a seven-day span, all on the road, have won the first two legs of the trip, defeating Marquette and Butler. They will be playing DePaul for the second time in less than two weeks, after topping the Blue Demons, 82-61, on Dec. 30 at Gampel Pavilion.
UConn has been boosted by the hot shooting of senior Tyler Polley (Miramar, Fla.), who has been the team's leading scorer in its last two wins, with 23 and 19 points, respectively. Polley had been red-hot from three-point range, hitting a combined 10-of-16 treys.
Polley has picked up the scoring slack after top scorer James Bouknight (Brooklyn, N.Y.) suffered an elbow injury against Marquette and could not play at all at Butler.
Against Butler, Polley found support from junior Tyrese Martin (Allentown, Pa.), who had 15 points and 7 rebounds and Isaiah Whaley (Gastonia, N.C.), who had 9 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. In all the Huskies had nine different players contribute to the scoring.
DePaul (1-3, 0-3) has been trying to find its footing after suffering numerous postponements because of COVID-19 issues – its own and those of its opponents. The Blue Demons are led in scoring by Javon Freeman-Liberty (15.8) and Charlie Moore (14.0), with Darious Hall the top rebounder (6.3).
It will be UConn's first time playing at Wintrust Arena. Â
