STORRS, Conn. - The No. 16 UConn field hockey team (5-6, 2-1 BIG EAST) put together a one of its best offensive performances of the season with a 3-0 victory against Providence on Friday night at the George Sherman Family Sports Complex.
The three goals for the Huskies tied a season-high with Claire Jandewerth converting two goals on a pair of UConn penalty corners. The multi-goal effort was the third of the Manheim, Germany natives career.Â
After Jandewerth's first goal of the game in the second quarter, the Huskies looked like it was going to carry a 1-0 lead into the half. However, a Providence turnover led to Madi Herb finding Nanne Eijkman in the circle for a goal with just seven ticks remaining on the clock.
For the Dutch midfielder, it was her first career goal with the Huskies.Â
UConn generated 15 shots on the night and Cheyenne Sprecher needed only four saves en route to her fourth shutout of the season.
The Huskies look to get back to the .500 mark with a Sunday matchup at No. 17 Princeton at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
