STORRS, Conn. - The No. 16 UConn field hockey team (4-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) are looking to rebound off a tough road trip last weekend with a home BIG EAST match against Providence on Friday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. and a non-conference road tilt at No. 17 Princeton at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Friday's matchup against the Friars is only the second game this season against an unranked opponent (UMass Lowell). The Huskies have played a grueling schedule and even with an under .500 record are No. 11 in the most recent RPI rankings.Â
The Huskies have won 20 in a row against Providence and have not lost to the Friars since 2006. UConn leads the overall series 41-8-3.
Providence is 5-5 on the season with a 1-1 mark in the BIG EAST. The Friars beat Georgetown, 2-1, and lost to Villanova, 5-3, in conference play.
UConn is 17-10 all-time against Princeton entering Sunday's matchup. The last meeting between the programs came in Storrs in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The Tigers won 2-0 to advance to the Final Four.
The schedule lightens up a bit over the next couple weeks with four of the next five games against current unranked opponents
