UConn Returns Home to Face Providence, No. 19 Creighton

STORRS, Conn. – Playing in Gampel Pavilion for the first time in 19 days, the UConn women's volleyball team will host Providence on Thursday before contending against No. 19 Creighton on Saturday.
Thursday's match vs. the Friars will commence at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's contest against the Bluejays will start at 3:30 p.m.
UConn (12-6, 4-2 BIG EAST) is coming off a 1-1 weekend on the road, topping Villanova 3-1 before falling by the same score against Georgetown.
Senior Kennadie Jake-Turner had a standout game against the Hoyas, producing a season-high 15 kills on a .375 hitting percentage, and added in four service aces. Junior Karly Berkland also notched a season high against Georgetown with 28 digs and averaged 5.0 digs per set over the weekend.
The Huskies are 7-1 in home contests, earning sweeps in six of those victories.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence is coming off two straight 0-3 defeats to stand at 1-5 in BIG EAST action and 13-6 overall. Allison Barber is one of two players in the conference to average double-digit assists per set with a 10.16 average.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The six-time defending BIG EAST champions boast a 17-2 overall mark to go with a 5-1 clip in conference contests. Norah Sis was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after leading all players with 5.0 kills per set last weekend, guiding the Blue Jays to wins over DePaul and Marquette.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will host Marquette (Oct. 23) and DePaul (Oct. 24) next weekend.
