WHOC Winning Streak Snapped at Four

Storrs, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team dominated for large stretch of today's game against Maine but ultimately lost 1-0 on Friday night at the Freitas Ice Forum.
UConn went on the power play just 90 seconds into the game and had some quality opportunities to take an early lead. UConn tallied five shots on goal with the extra skater but were unable to put the puck past Loryn Porter.
The Huskies outshot the Black Bears 8-2 in the first and followed it up in the second by leading in shots 11-4.
However, it was the Black Bears that got on the board first with 7:11 left in the second period. Jennifer Costa scored to make it 1-0.
Summer Rae-Dobson nearly tied the game with 6:42 left to go in regulation but her shot went off the post.
The Huskies drew a penalty with 3:14 to go in the third and put together a few quality opportunities on the power play. They even pulled Sam Carpentier-Yelle to gain a 6v4 advantage but their chances were unable to find the back of the net.
The loss ends the Huskies four-game win streak and drops their record to 11-2 overall and 6-2 in Hockey East. UConn and Maine will finish its weekend series on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.
