Mazo Scores Twice in 5-0 Rout of Seton Hall

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's soccer team (4-1-1, 2-1-1 BE) defeated the Seton Hall Pirates (1-4, 0-4 BE) by a score of 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
UConn dominated possession in the first 15 minutes of the game and generated a few early shots on goal but could not find the back of the end. The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute when senior Kess Elmore scored her second of the year off of a free kick from sophomore Jacqueline Harnett, to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Fellow Sophomore Jessica Mazo doubled the UConn lead after tucking away a loose ball after freshman Jada Konte's shot hit the crossbar in the 30th minute. UConn would lead 2-0 at the half.
In the 53rd minute, sophomore Cara Jordan's shot produced a rebound that was finished by Jessica Mazo, her second of the game, extending the Husky lead to 3-0. Junior Kara Long then played a through ball in the 58th minute to find a wide open Yamilee Eveillard, whose superb finish gave UConn a 4-0 lead. Junior Isabelle Lynch scored her first of the year in the 84th minute, extending the lead to 5-0. The Huskies had 13 shots on target Sunday afternoon.
Redshirt senior Randi Palacios made two saves in her fifth clean sheet of the season.

The Huskies travel to Washington, D.C. for an afternoon matchup with Georgetown on Thursday, March 18th. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
