BSB Set For Four Games at Baseball at the Beach

CONWAY, S.C. - The UConn baseball team (2-4) returns to the diamond to face off against Miami (Oh), Davidson and Coastal Carolina in the Baseball at the Beach tournament. UConn opens the weekend against Miami (OH) on Friday at 12 p.m. and Davidson at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both can be streamed on 91.7 FM WHUS or on whus.org. The Huskies wrap up the weekend against host, Coastal Carolina, on Sunday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 12 p.m. Both games will be on ESPN+ and on WHUS.
The Huskies are in the midst of a tough stretch of non-conference games to kick off the 2021 campaign. UConn is 2-4 but have played close ballgames against stellar competition. The four UConn loses have come by a total of five runs.
Memories at Spring Brooks Stadium... UConn has now made trips to Coastal Carolina in three of the last four seasons. The Huskies reached the 2018 Conway Regional Final after eliminating the host Chanticleers in an instant classic. Christian Fedko hit a go-ahead solo home run, his first of his career, to lift the Huskies past Coastal.
Baseball at the Beach Foes.. The Huskies face off against Miami (OH) on Friday afternoon and have only played the Redhawks one time in program history. The Huskies lost 4-2 in Winter Haven, Fla. back in 2009.
UConn is 10-4 all-time against Davidson in a series that dates all the way back to 1959. The Huskies traveled to Davidson, N.C. for five-straight season 1983-87 to take on the Wildcats.
The Huskies are 3-3 against Coastal Carolina with a 2-1 record in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies eliminated the Chanticleers in the 2011 Clemson Regional and 2018 Conway Regional.
Reggie Rockets... Reggie Crawford hit a pair of home runs last Sunday against Southern Mississippi to lead UConn to a 10-7 victory in the series finale. Crawford has hit three home runs in the first six games. The last time the Huskies had a player with three home runs two weeks into the season was in 2018 when Isaac Feldstein had three home runs in the first four contests.
Hug Me Brother... On Feb. 26 against Southern Mississippi, Chris and Pat Winkel each homered in the third inning against Golden Eagles starter Hunter Stanley.It was the first time that the brothers ever homered in the same inning including all the games they played together growing up..Â

Amity Represent... The Huskies penciled three players into the starting lineup who played together at the same high school. Andy Hague, Chris and Pat Winkel all made the start against Southern Mississippi on Feb. 26. The three played at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, Conn.Â
It was the first time since 1990 that UConn had three players in the starting lineup from the same high school. Sal Tinnerello, Craig MacDonald and Ken Coffee represented St. Bernards High School in Uncasville, Conn.
