LYNCHBURG, Va. - The No. 16 UConn field hockey team (4-5, 1-1 BIG EAST)Â lost 3-1 to No. 13 Liberty (6-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) on Friday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
The Huskies were outshot 23-10 and the Flames had an 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.Â
Cheyenne Sprecher made a career-high 12 saves in the match but the offense was unable to score until the last moments of the fourth quarter. It was the third double-digit save game for Sprecher on the season.
Abby Gooderham scored her first goal of the season on a UConn penalty corner to make it a 3-1 game at the 58.39 mark.
The Huskies shift gears to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Sunday at 1 p.m. to take on the reigning NCAA Champs.
