Huskies Set For Home Opener Vs. Union

STORRS, Conn. - Â The UConn men's ice hockey team is set to host Union College for a two game weekend series for the Huskies 22-23 home opener.
Huskies will kick off the two-game series Friday October 7 with puck drop at 7:05pm. The two teams will follow that up with a Saturday matinee with puck drop at 4:05pm.
UConn returns to the XL center in Hartford Connecticut for the 2022-23 season. UConn enters the matchup with the Dutchmen posting a 2-0 overall record. The Huskies opened the season on the road in Burlington Vermont and outscored the Catamounts 7-2 in the two games.
UConn had six different scorers in their games vs. Vermont while freshman Matthew Wood scored two goals and added an assist to help propel the Huskies to victory. Transfer Andrew Lucas had himself a weekend posting four assists vs. his former team.
Union enters the matchup vs. the Huskies posting a 1-0-1 overall record. The Dutchmen opened the 2022-23 season with a 4-3 victory vs. RIT and followed that with a six round shootout loss to Army.
Series History
UConn and Union have faced a total of 12 times in the team's history. Union holds a 7-1-4 record over the Huskies in these matchups. The last matchup between the Huskies and Dutchmen was in 2014 at the Frozen Holiday Classic which resulted in a 3-2 victory for UConn. Freshman Spencer Naas scored the game winner in the third period while sophomore goaltender Rob Nichols made 37 saves to knock off Union.
