No. 23 UConn set for Saturday Showdown at No. 13 JMU

STORRS, Conn. -Â Returning to the road for a top-25 matchup, the No. 23 UConn women's lacrosse team with contend against No. 13 James Madison on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
Saturday's matchup will take place at Tierney Field at the US Lacrosse National Headquarters. Since Tierney Field's inception in 2016, each of the past five matchups between the Huskies and Dukes have taken place at the facility.
The Huskies are coming off a season-opening win at Fairfield, using a late surge to down the Stags 12-10. Senior Sydney Watson picked up where she left off, pacing the Huskies in points (6), goals (4) and assists (2). Senior Grace Coon was crucial down the stretch as she netted three straight go-ahead goals, including what proved to be the game-winner, in the fourth quarter. Junior Ariana Kline caused five caused turnovers and senior Landyn White notched 11 saves on a .524 save percentage.
Wednesday marked the first time that the Huskies won a season opener on the road since the 2017 campaign.
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
This will be the second straight game in which the Huskies will matchup again a preseason conference favorite, as the Dukes were selected as the CAA preseason favorite. Molly Dougherty, who owns a career 45-10 record in net, was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List for the fourth straight season, and is one of two Dukes on the current roster from their 2018 National Championship squad. Isabella Peterson is following up a stellar rookie season with five goals and 13 draw controls through the first two contests this year.
THE SERIES
JMU leads the series 5-2, while each of UConn's wins have come on its home turf.

The Huskies will head home as they host UMass Lowell for their Morrone Stadium opener on Friday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
