No. 22 Women's Lacrosse Starts Three-Game Homestand vs. Hofstra

STORRS, Conn. -Â The No. 22 UConn women's lacrosse team will begin a three-game stretch at home as it welcomes Hofstra to Morrone Stadium on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
UConn reached its first 7-1 start since 2016 after taking a 16-11 win on the road vs. Albany on Tuesday. Junior Kate Shaffer set a new career high with six goals, while senior Sydney Watson also found the back of the net six times.
Watson is 10 goals away from breaking the program's career scoring record held by Grace Nolan, who finished as UConn's leader in goals (186) and points (285). Watson currently ranks third all-time with 228 career points.
The Huskies are averaging 19.6 goals per game at home and are leading the BIG EAST in goals per game (16.8), points per game (23.1) and shots per game (34.6).
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
Hofstra is coming off two straight losses, most recently taking a 12-9 setback to Vanderbilt on Sunday to stand at 6-3 overall. Katie Whelan notched her fifth five-goal effort vs. Vanderbilt and leads the Pride in goals (25), assists (10) and points (35).
Shannon is Hofstra's top draw taker (41) and also leads the team with 10 caused turnovers, while the defense as a whole leads the CAA in goals against average (8.4). Jess Smith boasts the top save percentage in the CAA (.543) and has started every game in her four-year career.
THE SERIES
Hofstra has taken both games in the series against the Huskies, most recently taking a 17-11 decision in New York last season after an 11-season gap in the series. Saturday will mark the first game in Storrs.
