No. 9 FH Squares Off Against No. 16 Liberty

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 UConn field hockey team (6-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) squares off with BIG EAST rival No. 16 Liberty on Friday, September 23 at 2 p.m. at the George Sherman Family Sports Complex.
The Huskies are off to a roaring start riding a four-game win streak that have all come against ranked opponents.
Liberty enters with a 4-3 record and 1-0 mark in the BIG EAST. The Flames reached the NCAA Final Four last season and have won the last three meetings against the Huskies.
UConn leads the all-time series 8-3 and are seeking revenge after losing 1-0 to the Flames in the 2021 BIG EAST Championship game.
The Huskies have been led by a balanced offensive attack that has featured 10 different goal scorers. McKenna Sergi leads the way with four goals and is coming off a two-goal performance against No. 16 William & Mary.
UConn has gotten a big boost from newcomers with Julia Bressler (2 goals), Sol Simone (1 goal, 4 assists), Frances Carstens (1 goal, 2 assists), Juana Garcia (1 goal, 1 assist) and Jasmijn Damman (1 goal).
Cheyenne Sprecher is coming off a weekend that earned her NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors. The UConn veteran goalkeeper made seven saves in a double-overtime victory at No. 14 Old Dominion and followed it up with five saves against No. 16 William & Mary.
