HookC Settles For Split Against Ohio State

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A five-run fifth inning for the Buckeyes proved to be the difference, as the UConn baseball team (2-2) settled for a four-game series split with Ohio State.Â
The Huskies got off to a hot start with David Smith and Ben Huber hitting solo homers in the top of the first inning.Â
RHP Stephen Quigley followed suit by facing the minimum in the first two frames.Â
Ohio State got to Quigley in the third with five-straight hits to plate three runs and take a 3-2 advantage.
The Huskies immediately responded with a run of their own on a sacrifice fly from Korey Morton.
The score remained the same until the five-run outburst in the fifth. Morton and Dominic Freeberger added RBI doubles in the ninth but it was not enough as the Huskies fell, 10-5.
Next up, UConn heads to Berkeley, Calif. to face Cal Poly (Friday) and California (Saturday & Sunday) next weekend.Â
