HONOLULU - The UConn baseball team (9-4) claimed a series win against the University of Hawai'i (7-7) with a 9-2 victory in front of 2991 on Monday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third inning, the Huskies plated six runs in the inning to take a 7-2 advantage.

Ryan Daniels led off the frame with a hustle double and advanced to third on a David Smith bunt single. Dominic Freeberger gave the Huskies the lead with an RBI double.

After a pitching change Ben Huber smoked an RBI double and Luke Broadhurst followed with an RBI single. Matt Garbowski capped the six-run frame with an RBI single.

Huber added to the lead in the fourth with his second RBI double of the game.

RHP Jack Sullivan (2-1) earned the win on the mound after throwing five strong innings of work. The Carmel, N.Y. native allowed just three hits, one earned run and struck out four.

Zach Fogell, Devin Kirby and Justin Willis combined to throw four scoreless innings out of the pen.

The Huskies will take a three-game win streak into a four-game series at San Diego State with the series opener on Thursday, March 16 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT
