SAN DIEGO - The UConn baseball team (10-4) won its fourth straight game to earn a series opening win at San Diego State, 10-2, on Thursday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

RHP Ian Cooke earned the victory with a season-high 6.2 innings of work. He allowed five hits, two runs and struck out six. The right-hander retired 13 batters in a row with one out in the third inning until a two-out walk was issued in the seventh inning.

The UConn offense scored double digit runs for the third time in the last four games.

Jake Studley led the way with a career-high four runs batted in with his two-run double in the seventh and two-run single in the 8^th helped distance the Huskies from the Aztecs.

Ben Huber got the Huskies on the board first with a two-run homer in the third inning that gave UConn a 2-1 advantage.

After SDSU tied the game in the third, freshman Ryan Daniels lined an RBI double down the left field line to get the lead back, 3-2. It was the second-straight multi-hit game for the Meriden, Conn. native.

Luke Broadhurst registered a pair of hits including an RBI single in the seventh inning. The UConn designated hitter has eight RBIs during the first five games of spring break.

Devin Kirby and Jude Abbadessa finished off the 10^th win of the season with 2.1 scoreless innings.

UConn and San Diego State resume the series on Friday night at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.
