HookC Lose 4-2 at SDSU

SAN DIEGO - The UConn baseball team (10-5) lost 4-2 on Friday night to San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
A pitcher's duel broke out with the game staying 0-0 until the seventh inning. LHP Andrew Sears was excellent, throwing 5.1 shutout frames, allowing just three hits and striking out a career-high eight.
The Huskies broke through in the seventh with a lead off home run from shortstop Bryan Padilla. The Huskies added a run off an error to make it 2-0.Â
The game remained 2-0 until the Aztecs got a three-run homer from Poncho Ruiz with two outs in the eighth. San Diego State added a run to take a two-run lead to the ninth.
Kalena Sauer tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close the game out for the Aztecs.
The Huskies and Aztecs will resume the series on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
