BOCA RATON, Fla. - Five two-out RBIs helped lead the UConn baseball team (5-3) to a series win against FAU (7-3), 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at the FAU Baseball Stadium.

The clutch hiitting was a key component to the Huskies victory but right-hander Stephen Quigley was superb with 6.2 innings of one-run ball that featured five strikeouts.

Quigley did not allow a hit until the sixth inning and set the tone against a dangerous Owls lineup.

UConn jumped on the board in the third with a two-out RBI double from team captain David Smith.

The score remained 1-0 until the seventh, freshman Ryan Daniels collected a pinch-hit double to start the two-out rally. After a pitching change, Matt Garbowski delivered an RBI single to extend the lead 2-0.

Quigley ran into a little trouble in the seventh, allowing a run and exiting with runners at the corners and two outs. Will Nowak came out of the pen and calmly caught Mitchell Hartigan trying to steal second to end the threat.

UConn immediately responded with a clutch bases-clearing double from shortstop Bryan Padilla. The three-run double extended the UConn lead to 5-1.

After a scoreless inning from Nowak, Justin Willis came on and secured his second save of the weekend by striking out three in the frame.

The Huskies look to go for their first sweep of the season with a noon start time in the series finale on Sunday.
