Huskies Set to Open Conference Play versus Villanova

VILLANOVA, Penn. – The UConn Women's Lacrosse team is set to kick off their conference play for the remainder of the season against Villanova University in Villanova, PA. Opening draw is scheduled for 2:00pm.
UConn is coming off a winning week, defeating Hofstra University in their third overtime game of the season, and taking down Columbia University in a convincing win on Saturday evening.
The UConn offense had another strong showing this week, as grad student, Grace Coon, totaled six goals and three assists for the Huskies, including scoring the game-winning goal against Hofstra in overtime. Coon was named to the BIG EAST honor roll this week. Junior, Susan Lafountain, also had six goals and one assist over the last two games. Kate Shaffer continues to impress on offense, notching four goals and one assist. She is currently ranked #23 in the country for points per game.
Grad student goalkeeper, Landyn White, continues to be brick wall in net for the defense and continues to impress on the national level – she's currently ranked #3 in the country for save percentage, #3 in saves per game, and #6 for total saves.
Scouting Villanova
The Wildcats come into the game 8-3. They opened conference play last weekend with a loss against then-No.4 Denver University, 17-4. Villanova goals came from four separate players, Sami Carey, Caroline Curnal, Sydney Pappas, and Cara Moreau. Sophomore goalie, Cate Gallagher, had 12 saves in the loss. The Wildcats will be looking for their first win in the BIG EAST this year today.
