The Huskies came back from three separate deficits on Saturday with Butler jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning.Â
Starter Stephen Quigley settled in and logged a quality start with 6.0 innings of work, allowed three runs, one walk and six strikeouts.Â
T.C. Simmons got the Huskies on the scoreboard with a bases loaded walk in the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 3-1.Â
In the fifth inning, first baseman Ben Huber hit his second home run of the series and 12th of the year, a two-run homer, to even the score at 3-3.Â
The score remained tied until the eighth when the Bulldogs loaded the bases against Garrett Coe. Dominic Milano was able to lift a sacrifice fly to shallow right to give Butler the lead back, 4-3.Â
UConn quickly responded in the bottom of the eighth with back-to-back walks to lead off the inning. After a rare catcher's balk advanced runners to second and third, Paul Tammaro tied the game with his third hit of the day, an RBI single, to even the score at 4-4.Â
A couple batters later, Korey Morton gave UConn its first lead of the day with a sacrifice fly to center to plate Bryan Padilla and make it 5-4 Huskies.
In the ninth, Butler benefited from three UConn errors to plate a pair of runs and regain the lead, 6-5.Â
In the bottom half of the ninth, Dominic Freeberger hit a long line drive out to the right field warning track for out number one. Huber followed with a walk and set up the dramatics from the Stafford Springs, Conn. native.
Broadhurst drove a 1-1 slider over the fence in left field, creating a wild scene on the field and in the stands as the Huskies walked off for the second-straight day to clinch their 11th-straight series win.
UConn will look to go for a sweep tomorrow on Senior Day beginning at 12:05 p.m.Â
