PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – The No.15 nationally-ranked UConn women's field hockey team opens their 2023 season with a pair of road games against No.11 Saint Joseph's University on Friday afternoon and Monmouth University on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies take on a top-15 team as they face the Saint Joseph's Hawks in their season opener. The Hawks went 16-5 last year, while clinching a spot in the elite eight of the NCAA Tournament and losing to reining National Champion, UNC. This is the first time these two teams will meet, with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
UConn will travel to West Long Branch, NJ for their matchup on Sunday against the Monmouth Hawks, who went 10-8 last season and made it to the first round of the CAA Tournament. The Huskies are 1-0 all-time against Monmouth, with their only matchup being a home game last season in Storrs, CT.
The UConn field hockey team is ranked No.15 in the NFHCA poll and were picked third in the BIG EAST Conference, behind Liberty and Old Dominion.
Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Sol Simone, and All-Conference Second Teamer, Julia Bressler, were picked to the preseason All-BIG EAST team.
You can catch the Huskies on ESPN+ tomorrow in their first game of the 2023 season.
