STORRS, Conn. – The UConn field hockey team (4-6, 1-1) is on a roll as they took down top-20 opponent, Delaware, in their third straight win of the season on a rainy Sunday afternoon at home in Storrs.
No.20 Delaware came out of the gate swinging as they notched their first, and only, goal of the match early in the first period. The Huskies answered that goal with one of their own in the second period to tie the game up. Grad student, Julianna Kratz, had the first point for the Huskies today; that makes three goals in two games for the transfer forward from Fairfield.
The game remained tied through the third period, with UConn taking the only two shots recorded during those 15 minutes. In the final period of the game, grad student, Belle Bressler, put the Huskies on top over the Blue Hens with her first goal of the season, and first career goal as a Husky. Just a few minutes later, McKenna Sergi drew a penalty stroke, and Julia Bressler capitalized on the free shot to solidify the win.
UConn honored the 2013 National Championship team at halftime, as they returned to campus to celebrate their 10-year anniversary.
The Huskies will head to Villanova next week to take on the Wildcats on Friday, September 29th at 4:00pm.
