Softball welcomes Providence to Storrs for three game series

STORRS, Conn. – UConn softball (17-14) is set to host the Providence Friars for a three game series at Burrill Family Field. The series starts on Saturday, March 30 with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00pm. TICKETS
The Huskies are coming into the series on a three game slide after their thirteen game winning streak was snapped at Butler last Sunday. So far in BIG EAST play UConn is 5-1 putting them in second place behind the Villanova Wildcats (9-0). The Huskies offense is hitting a collective .327 in conference play which leads all BIG EAST teams. Overall, UConn leads the conference in batting average (.283), doubles (43), and stolen bases (45).
UConn's pitching staff has been dominant in conference play so far. Through six BIG EAST games the pitching staff owns a 1.94 era, only giving up 12 runs across 39.2 innings pitched, with 39 strikeouts. Overall, the Huskies lead the conference in strikeouts (200), while holding opponents to a .235 batting average against.
Providence (12-13) are coming into the weekend on a three game winning streak. So far in conference play they are 3-6 with a series win over St. John's last weekend. UConn leads the all-time series 52-24, with the Huskies winning eight of the last ten matchups.
The series will begin on Saturday, March 30 with two games beginning at noon. The series finale will be on Monday, April 1 at 3:00pm. All games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
