The UConn Huskies will play their final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Air Force Falcons to Pratt & Whitney Stadium for a 12 noon kick-off on CBS Sports Network.
The Huskies and Falcons meet for the first time on the gridiron on Saturday. The two schools will play again next season in Colorado Springs on October 31. The Huskies are 1-7 all-time against teams from the Mountain West Conference. UConn last faced the league in 2023, a home loss to Utah State. The Huskies lone win came at home over Fresno State in 2022.
UConn notched their seventh win on the season thanks to a 37-34 win over Duke at home last Saturday. The Huskies have won three of their last four match-ups against ACC teams and are 2-1 this season. The win also locked in the second-straight winning season for the Huskies, something they haven't accomplished since the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
The Huskies remained unbeaten at home this season at 5-0 and are 11-1 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field over the last two seasons. With a win over Air Force, UConn would post just the third unbeaten home mark since the stadium opened in 2003 and the first since the 2010 campaign. It would also mark the best two-year stretch at home in the Huskies history at The Rent.
Quarterback Joe Fagnano threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Duke and earned a pair of honors this week being named to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 and a Manning Award Star of the Week, an honor he has now received three times this season.
Linebacker Bryun Parham was named this week's New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award winner after racking up a career-high 16 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble in the win over the Blue Devils.
Scouting the Falcons... The Air Force Falcons make the trip to Connecticut winners of two of their last three and coming off a 26-16 win at San Jose State in conference action last weekend. The Falcons are making their second-trip to the east coast this season after a stop at Navy in early October. The Falcons have held their last three opponents to 21 points or less as they look to keep a potent UConn offensive attack in check. The Falcons love to run the football and lead the Mountain West and are second in the country averaging 269.0 yards per game. Sophomore quarterback Liam Szarka leads the way with 903 yards on 183 carries with 13 touchdowns. He ranks 10th in the country averaging 100.3 yards per game and third in rushing TDs (13). When the Falcons throw it they rank fourth in the country in passing efficiency (170.34) and first in passing yards per completion (18.33).
UConn vs. the Mountain West... The Huskies are 1-7 all-time against teams from the Mountain West Conference. UConn got their first win against the league in 2022 by beating Fresno State at home, 19-14. The Huskies are 0-2 all-time against Boise State, 1-1 against Fresno State, 0-1 against Wyoming and 0-3 against the Utah State. UConn faces Air Force for the first time in program history this season and again out in Colorado Springs, CO in 2026. The Huskies have two future dates against Wyoming, on the road in 2026 and a home date with the Cowboys in 2029.
