STORRS, Conn.- The UConn men's and women's track and field teams will kick off their respective 2025-26 indoor seasons this weekend, competing at the Harvard Classic in Cambridge and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
The Huskies enter the new season looking to continue their dominance established in the BIG EAST. Last May, UConn completed the dual indoor-outdoor sweep for the fourth consecutive season and the eighth time in program history. The men's side won their fourth consecutive and fifth consecutive outdoor title, securing their ninth overall. The women's side won their fourth straight indoor and outdoor titles and sixth overall.
Three returning Huskies were named second team All-Americans last outdoor season in Eugene, with Josh Mooney, Diarmuid O'Connor, and Maresa Hense all securing all-America honors in their respective multi-events. Enaji Muhammad was named an all-America honorable mention in the high jump. Mooney finished 12th in the decathlon with 7,662 points last June, including a win in the javelin throw. O'Connor claimed 15th overall with 7,580 points, highlighted by a second place finish in the 1500m.Â
Hense shined in her freshman season in Storrs, finishing 15th in the heptathlon with 5,608 points. Muhammad set a new personal-best in the high jump at the NCAA East First Round, jumping 2.15m to finish 10th and qualify for the NCAA Championships, where he finished 20th at 2.10m.Â
The Harvard Classic will be streamed on ESPN+, and the BU Season Opener will be streamed on Flo Track.
