Huskies Bested by No.18 Stony Brook

STORRS, Conn. - UConn women's lacrosse (1-3) was defeated by the 18th-ranked Stony Brook Seawolves (2-0) on Tuesday afternoon at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Facility, 16-5.
How it Happened:
The Huskies got on the board first, with Megan O'Brien scoring the first goal five minutes in. Stony Brook responded with two goals in the last three minutes of the quarter to take a 2-1 edge heading into the second.
Julia Fusco scored her second goal of the game and Katie Walsh tacked on a goal to pad the Stony Brook lead to 4-1. Anna Magennis brought the Huskies within two, converting on a feed from O'Brien. Led by all-American Isabella Caporuscio, the Seawolves scored nine unanswered goals. Caporuscio tallied six goals in the flurry for the visitors, stretching the advantage to 13-2.
Karsyn Burnash scored late in the third quarter on an assist from Madison Sweeney, her first goal of the season. Stony Brook tallied three more goals to maintain a comfortable 16-3 lead with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Kelsey Neary and Hadley Bethke found the back of the net for UConn in the closing moments of the game, but it would not be enough, as Stony Brook secured the road win.
