UConn Dominates Quinnipiac 21-0 in Home Opener

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's lacrosse team shut out Quinnipiac 21-0 on Wednesday in the team's 2016 home opener at the George J. Sherman Complex. Sophomore attacker Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) tied the program single-game record, scoring seven goals.
UConn also tied the program record for most goals scored in a single game, racking up a massive 21 points. The last time the Huskies scored 21 goals was against Virginia Tech in 2004.
Nolan opened up the scoring with back-to-back goals five minutes into the game and finished the first half with five goals total. UConn held a dominant 12-0 lead going into halftime with goals from six different Huskies.
Senior attacker Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) finished with six goals and two assists for a total of eight points. Freshman attacker Lexi Kenneally (Wayne, Pa.) scored her first career goal as a Husky halfway through the second half. She finished her first collegiate match with two points after she netted her second goal six minutes later.
UConn outshot Quinnipiac 35-7 overall. Both UConn goaltenders, senior Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) and sophomore Madison Hooper (West Hartford, Conn.) recorded three saves to earn a shutout for the Huskies.

The Huskies are back in action Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. when they host James Madison at the Sherman Complex.
