MBB Hosts Iona Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team, riding its second two-game winning streak of the young season, returns to Gampel Pavilion to entertain Iona College in a non-conference game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and the game will be televised by SNY.

What to Know
- UConn leads the all-time series 3-1
- The Huskies (5-2) are coming off a 64-40 win – their largest victory margin of the season – over Maine on Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford.
- The Huskies have four double-figure scorers, led by senior Christian Vital (14.6), who also tops the team in rebounding (8.1) and steals (3.3). Freshman James Bouknight (13.8) and juniors Josh Carlton (13.0) and Tyler Polley (10.0) are also averaging in double figures, while junior Alterique Gilbert leads the Huskies in assists (3.9).
- Iona (2-2) is coming off an 11-day layoff since a 75-52 win over Kennesaw State in the MAAC-ASun Challenge in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Gaels are led in scoring (17.0) and rebounding (9.0) by senior Tajuan Agee, with senior E.J. Crawford also scoring in double figures (15.3).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.

UConn will be making its fourth appearance in the Jimmy V Classic, challenging Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. tipoff and will be televised on ESPN.
