Huskies Stifled In Opener, 5-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. - ECU starting pitcher Jake Agnos recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work to shut down UConn, 5-1, in the series opener at Clark LeClair Stadium on Thursday night.
The Huskies only managed five hits against the left-hander and did not record a hit after the fifth inning.Â
Pat Winkel provided the only scoring for the Huskies with a solo home run in the second inning. The long ball was the third of the season for the freshman.
Mason Feole kept the Huskies in the game with 5.1 innings and allowed three runs and struck out five.
Chris Winkel recorded a pair of hits in the losing effort.
The Huskies and Pirates will wrap up the series on Saturday, April 20 with a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. The first game will be a seven innng contest while game two is slated as a normal nine innings.
