GREENVILLE, N.C. - The UConn baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on Saturday to lose all three game at No. 12 ECU this weekend. The Huskies fall to 24-16 overall and 7-8 in The American.
It is the first time the Huskies have been swept since 2017, when the team dropped all three games at Tulane.
The first game of the day began at 9 a.m. and the Huskies were unable to punish the Pirates for their mistakes. The Huskies finished the game 1-9 with runners in scoring position and scored on a hit by pitch and sacrifice fly.
The Pirates immediately responded to a two-run top of the third with a three-spot of their own to take a 3-2 advantage.
The Huskies battled in the second game of the doubleheader but a pair of home runs for Spencer Brickhouse, coupled with home runs from Jake Washer and Chandler Jenkins , led the Pirates to a 9-7 win. The Huskies hit a pair of home runs in the ninth to make the score respectable with a solo shot from Kyler Fedko and a two-run homer for Mike Woodworth.
The Huskies return to Connecticut to play CCSU on Monday, April 22 at 3 p.m. The game is scheduled to be played at J.O. Christian Field.
