Huskies Fall to JMU, 11-8

SPARKS, Maryland – The UConn women's lacrosse team fell to James Madison 11-8 on Sunday afternoon at the US Lacrosse Headquarters. The Huskies fall to 1-1 on the season, while JMU improves to 2-1 to begin the year.
UConn jumped out to a 2-0 lead at 14:48 of the first half thanks to goals from sophomore Lia LaPrise and senior Olivia Miles. LaPrise would net her second goal of the game on a free position attempt to put the Huskies up 3-1. James Madison battled back to take a 4-3 lead at the half.
The second half saw the Huskies and Dukes even at 6-6. The Dukes took a 9-7 lead before junior Stephanie Palmucci scored her second goal of the game to cut the lead to one. James Madison would finish the game adding two insurance goals. The Dukes would take the game 11-8.
Lia LaPrise led the Huskies with five points on the afternoon, tallying two goals and three assists. Stephanie Palmucci added two goals of her own, as well as an assist. Olivia Miles, freshman Madelyn George, and juniors Sam McKenna and Olivia Troy added a goal each for UConn.
