WLAX Heads to UNH for Afternoon Matchup

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's lacrosse team will have a quick turnaround after Friday's victory over UMass Lowell in Storrs. The Huskies head to Durham where they will play the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday, February 23rd at 1:00pm.

Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats enter Sunday's contest with a 1-1 overall record. New Hampshire took down Merrimack 15-9 to open the season before falling to Iona 9-8. Sophomore Emily Curtis has scored a team-high seven goals for seven points on the season. Junior Julia Neyland also has seven points after tallying six goals and one assist through two games. Six other Wildcats have recorded at least a point.
Matchup History
Sunday's matchup will be the 10th meeting between the two schools since 2009 and UConn's first true road game of the season. The Huskies have a 6-3 record against the Wildcats, including winning four straight from 2014-2018. In last season's meeting, UNH won a tight game 13-12, snapping UConn's four game winning streak. In the previous nine meetings, the Huskies have outscored UNH 108-89.
Last Time Out
UConn comes into Sunday after defeating UMass Lowell 20-14 at the Sherman Family Complex on Friday afternoon. Junior Sydney Watson had a record-breaking performance against the River Hawks with a school record 14 draw controls. Watson also tied the school record for goals in a single game with eight. She would add an assist for a total nine points on the afternoon. Junior Abby Vetsch and sophomore Lia LaPrise each recorded a hat trick in Friday's win. LaPrise added four helpers for seven points. Freshman Sophie Sorenson got on the scoresheet with her first collegiate goal as well.

The Huskies will have just under a week off before taking on in-state rival Quinnipiac University in Hamden on Saturday, February 29th. The opening draw is set for 12:00pm at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.
