BSB Falters 8-3 at UNO

NEW ORLEANS - The UConn baseball team (3-4) lost the first game of its three-game set at New Orleans, 8-3, on Friday night at Maestri Field.
Chris Winkel led the way for the UConn offense with his first three-hit game of 2020. The senior captain delivered a two-out, two-run single in the seventh inning to bring the Huskies within a run 4-3.
But the Privateers responded with a four-run frame in the eighth inning to pull away from the Huskies.
The Huskies trailed for much of the game, 1-0, before the UConn offense rallied in the sixth inning for a run. Chris Winkel doubled to lead off the frame and quickly moved to third on a base hit from Christian Fedko.
Freshman Reggie Crawford notched an RBI ground out to second to even the score at 1.Â
Joe Simeone started the ballgame for the Huskies and tossed a career-high 4.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run and four strikeouts.
Freshman Todd Petersen notched a milestone with his first career hit, a double, in the seventh inning.
The Huskies look to even the series on Saturday afternoon at 3 PM ET.
