BSB Rallies to Win Series at St. John's, 5-3, In Extras

QUEENS, N.Y. - The UConn baseball team (23-15, 7-3 BIG EAST) rallied back to beat St. John's, 5-3, in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon at Jack Kaiser Stadium to win three of four from its BIG EAST rivals this weekend.
Trailing 2-1 entering the eighth inning and facing the Johnnies closer Ethan Routzahn, 4 YR JR Zach Bushling delivered a two-out RBI double to score Chris Brown at first and even the game at 2-2.
Andrew Marrero kept the momentum for the Huskies with a scoreless eighth inning while Caleb Wurster pitched a scoreless ninth to send the game to extras.
In the 10th, the Huskies loaded the bases with no outs but after back-to-back strikeouts for Routzahn it was up to Bushling again to give UConn the lead. The shortstop drew a bases loaed walk to make it 3-2 'Skies.
Kyler Fedko followed with his third hit of the day, a two-run single, to extend the UConn lead to 5-2.
Wurster came back out and secured his fourth win of the year to lock down the series win and seal the comeback.
Justin Willis, Kenneth Haus and Marrero combined for 4.1 shutout frames to keep the Johnnies down after they went ahead 2-0 in the fourth.
Chris Winkel collected a three-hit game and got the Huskies on the board in the sixth with an RBI single.
Next up, the Huskies are now scheduled to play at Villanova next weekend after their midweek game at Northeastern got canceled due to Northeastern making up conference games this week.
