No. 16 FH Beats No. 19 ODU, 2-0, in BIG EAST Opener

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 16 UConn field hockey team opened BIG EAST conference play with a 2-0 win against No. 19 Old Dominion on Friday afternoon at the George Sherman Family Sports Complex.
UConn played one of its best offensive games of the season by dictating play, keeping possession and capitalizing on opportunities.
Claire Jandewerth put the Huskies on the board with her second goal of the season off a penalty stroke in the second quarter.
McKenna Sergi doubled the UConn lead, with her second goal of the season, in the third quarter. The junior worked into the far circle and unleashed a back-handed shot to make it 2-0 UConn.
Cheyenne Sprecher and the UConn defense posted its second shutout of the year with three saves from the Palmyra, Pa. native.
The win moves the Huskies to 3-4 on the season and will face its seventh ranked opponent on Sunday against No. 13 Harvard at 1 p.m. in Storrs.
