Huskies Welcome Manhattan to Morrone Stadium Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. -Â Following posting its first two-game win streak against UMass since 2003-04, the UConn women's lacrosse team will look to carry its momentum as it takes Joseph J. Morrone Stadium for the first time this season vs. Manhattan on Wednesday, March 9.
Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. and the game can be seen live on FloSports.
UConn overcame a five-goal deficit as it earned a dramatic 17-14 victory at UMass on Saturday. The Huskies outscored the Minutewomen 9-3 in the second half and went on a 4-1 run to close the game. Senior Grace Coon, who was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll, piloted the attack, tallying three goals and three assists. Coon's six points matched her previous career high, while her three helpers set a new career best.
Junior Kate Shaffer also had a standout day with a season-high four goals.
The Huskies have limited their opponents to just three scores over the final 30 minutes in each of their last two games. Furthermore, UConn outscored both of those opponents 9-3 in the second half.
UConn holds the top team marks in the BIG EAST in goals per game (16.4), points per game (22.8) and shots per game (34.0).
SCOUTING MANHATTAN
Manhattan mirrors UConn with a 4-1 record entering Wednesday's matchup. Grace Lipponer has netted at least a hat trick in four-of-five games and leads the Jaspers in goals (17), assists (12) and points (29). Lipponer leads the MAAC in both assists (2.4) and points (5.8) per game.
Andrea Liotta is the leader of the defense, amassing a team highs of 20 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Ashley Gambardella has started all five games in net and owns an 8.89 goals against average as well as a .485 save percentage.
THE SERIES
Wednesday will mark the first matchup between the two programs.
