SPARKS, Md. - The UConn women's lacrosse team fell to James Madison University, 11-7, on Saturday afternoon in their second game of the season at the US Lacrosse Facility in Sparks, MD.
Graduate student and veteran goalkeeper, Landyn White, had a standout performance in goal against an aggressive JMU attack. White, and the UConn defense, kept the Dukes' star offensive player, Isabella Peterson, to just one goal scored during the loss.
UConn held JMU to four goals in the first half, while sophomore, Rayea Davis, and graduate student, Grace Coon, each put one in the back of the net to make the score 4-2.
The Huskies scored two more goals in the third quarter, answering the two goals scored by the Dukes. After a slow start to the fourth quarter for the Huskies, and five unanswered goals from the Dukes, UConn came back with gusto to score three goals of their own, led by junior midfielder, Morgan Carter. Carter scored two goals in the final three minutes of the game. Ultimately, it wasn't enough to put UConn on top over JMU.
The Huskies will host Saint Joseph's University next at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25th at Morrone Stadium in Storrs, CT.
