STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Women's Lacrosse team is set to host in-state foe, No.15 Yale University, on Saturday March 11th at Morrone Stadium. This will be the third nationally ranked team the Huskies play against this season, with opening draw set for 12:00 p.m.
UConn is 0-2 against ranked opponents this season, losing to then-No.12 JMU in Sparks, MD at a neutral-site contest at the US Lacrosse facility, and losing to then-No.25 UMass last weekend in a home heartbreaker for the Huskies.
The UConn offense had a strong goal-scoring week during their two games against No.25 UMass and UNH. Kate Shaffer had six goals and one assist on the week, while Susan Lafountain had five goals and two assists. Grace Coon, Rayea Davis, Lia LaPrise, and Kyra Place all had strong offensive performances, adding to the goal count and assists in both the loss to No.25 UMass and the win versus UNH.
Grad student goalkeeper, Landyn White, continues to put up big saves on defense for the Huskies. She made 16 saves last week, with two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Senior, Madelyn George, established dominance in draw controls last week, controlling 13 and having two caused turnovers.
The Huskies beat Yale last season on the road, one of only five losses for the Bulldogs, and will look to do it for the second year in a row, now at home in Storrs, CT.
UConn will host a youth day on Saturday, inviting youth teams from across the state to see them play against an in-state foe, Yale.
