HookC Finshes Spring Break 6-2 With Series Win at SDSU

SAN DIEGO - The UConn baseball team (12-5) won its four-game series at San Diego State, 10-3, on Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
David Smith recorded the second multi-homer game for a Husky this season (Luke Broadhurst, Cal Poly)Â with a leadoff homer to begin the ballgame and then a back-breaking grand slam in the 8th inning.Â
The Huskies totaled double digit runs for the fifth time during their eight game spring break trip including three against the Aztecs.Â
Dominic Freeberger and Jake Studley each added solo homers in the fifth inning to make it 4-2 Huskies. For Studley, it was his first home run in a UConn uniform.Â
RHP Jack Sullivan earned the victory with a career-high 6.2 innings of work and struck out a career-high eight strikeouts.Â
Freeberger closed the game out with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.Â
The Huskies closed out their spring break with a 6-2 record on a trip that covered just shy of 11,000 miles. The Huskies will play its home opener on Wednesday, March 22 at 3:05 p.m.Â
