No. 9 HookC Sweeps Seton Hall, 15-9, In Front of Record Crowd

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 UConn baseball team (35-11, 11-3 BIG EAST) swept the Seton Hall Pirates (25-22, 7-8 BIG EAST) in front of a record crowd of 1508 at Elliot Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.Â
The victory was the 11th straight for the Huskies against the Pirates and is the third-straight series sweep in the series.
UConn jumped in front with a 4-0 lead entering the fourth inning with Bryan Padilla highlighting the scoring with a two-run homer.Â
Seton Hall responded with six runs in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead. The lead was brief for the Pirates with the second batter of the fourth, Maddix Dalena, launched a long two-run homer to right to even the score at 6-6.Â
After a Korey Morton triple, David Smith collected his third hit of the game, an RBI single to push the Huskies back in front, 7-6.Â
After a Dominic Freeberger RBI single, Jake Studley capped the six-run Husky fourth with a two-run homer to the opposite field to push the lead back to four, 10-6.Â
RHP Tommy Ellisen earned his fifth win out of the pen with 3.1 innings of work, allowed one unearned run and struck out three.
Smith finished the day with a season-high four hits, scored three runs, drove in a pair and stole the 100th base of the season for the Huskies.Â
It is the first time since 2013 that the Huskies have stolen 100 bases or more in a single-season.Â
Luke Broadhurst collected three hits on the afternoon and finished just a home run shy of the cycle while Padilla collected three hits and drove in three.Â
The UConn offense racked up nine extra base hits, the most they've had in a game this season.Â
The victory is the sixth win in a row for the Huskies, tying the longest win streak of the season.Â
UConn will continue its home stand with a Wednesday, May 10 contest vs. Hofstra at 6:05 p.m. at Elliot Ballpark.Â
