SAN MARCOS, Texas – The UConn baseball team lost its series finale at Texas State, 5-3, on Sunday afternoon from Bobcat Ballpark, snapping the team's three-game win streak.

For the third-straight game, UConn got on the board first with a pair of runs in the second. Pat Winkel and Christian Fedko recorded back-to-back singles to begin the frame and came around to score on a Kyler Fedko sacrifice fly and Chris Winkel RBI single.

Texas State responded with a three-spot in the third inning against UConn starter Joe Simeone.

The UConn bullpen kept the Huskies in the game with six innings of work and only allowed two runs.

Offensively, Cole Brodnansky was a bright spot with a multi-hit performance. The Lakeport, Calif. native recorded his first career hit in the second inning and then hit his first career home run in the seventh to bring the Huskies within a run, 4-3.

UConn threatened in the eighth with runners at second and third and two outs. Kyler Fedko drilled a ball into centerfield but was right at the centerfielder to end the threat.

Chase Gardner was solid out of the bullpen for the second-straight day, recording a pair of outs to strand the bases loaded.
