BSB Renews Rivalry at St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. - The UConn baseball team returns to BIG EAST play against its long time rival, St. John's, for a four-game series at Jack Kaiser Stadium beginning on Friday, May 7 at 6 p.m. All four games of the series can be seen on ESPN3.
In a series that dates back to 1956, the Huskies are leading the all-time series against the Johnnies, 63-62. That last series between the two teams came in 2018 when the Huskies won two-of-three from St. John's at Kaiser Stadium.
The Huskies currently sit in third place in the BIG EAST standings with a 4-2 record and .667 winning percentage. UConn needs to reach 14 BIG EAST contests to qualify for the four-team BIG EAST Championship at the end of May.
Ben Casparius will stay on schedule and pitch on Saturday in game two of the series. He currently leads the conference with 92 strikeouts and 63.1 innings pitched. The right-hander is tied with teammate Austin Peterson for first in the league with five wins on the year.
Peterson gets the ball in Friday's opener while Pat Gallagher is slated to pitch game three and Joe Simeone will get the nod in the series finale on Sunday.
Kyler Fedko enters the weekend 14th in the country with a .413 batting average. The UConn outfielder is 33rd in the country in both hits per game (1.52) and runs per game (1.12). His .702 slugging percentage is 31st nationally.
Reggie Crawford enters the series leading the BIG EAST in home runs (9) and runs batted in (41).
UConn is currently 20-14 on the year and ranks No. 48 in the RPI (Thursday night).Â
